A Ceiling Fan Funny

There is this great trick to cleaning ceiling fans that I learned several years ago so I wouldn't get dust everywhere using a regular duster. You take a pillow case, cover the blade, and hold it tightly as you slide it off. All the dust is caught inside the pillow case and you simply shake it out outside and wash it and you are done!

Well, today was ceiling fan cleaning day. I picked a pillowcase I hadn't used before. I had just finished replacing the sheets and quilt on the bed and began the job. To my surprise, I was getting dust on the bed! I made sure to grab it tighter so no dust would escape and then went on to the other room. In the second room the same thing happened! So I decided to shake the dust down so it wasn't near the top and then it wouldn't escape. When I shook it, there was dust on the floor.
I looked into the pillow case and to my fun surprise, it was open on both ends! HA
So my lesson for today was to make sure I get RID of that one, and use one that is normal, as in closed on one end!

How Do You Solve A Problem......

We had fun this a.m. getting Miss Alli out of bed! Apparently after the debate last night, she stayed up to do art.
I understand how she couldn't just go to sleep. I am the same way. After watching something like that, I have to have some wind down time.

BUT..... 8:30?  Sorry sweetie, Out of Bed for you! :)

A Family Funny for May

Erika has a birthday coming up in less than 3 weeks.  I was going to surprise her with a face book account.  But I wanted to get it all set up, so that when she went to the computer she would have lots of birthday wishes and all her her settings would already be completed for privacy etc.

She just happened to be on the other computer checking her email, while I was "stealthfully" creating her account.  And then, I heard this giggling.  Then more giggling.
And then I figured it out.
Every time I adjusted something or added something, she was getting an email notification!  I forgot about that setting! LOL

I was thinking about making her wait until her birthday.... but since she already knows.....
Happy EARLY birthday Miss Erika!  You are my girl! :)

Conversation

Before bedtime:

Alli: "I feel like I'm starving!"
Me: "Get something to eat."
Alli: "I'm not hungry."
Me.: What am I supposed to do with that?
Alli: "I don't know, you're the mom, you know everything. :)
Me: "You're thirsty, get a drink of water!"

Anna's joke for me today:

"My dog is so lazy that she chases parked cars.  She has a recorded bark for when the mail man pulls up.  In fact she's so good at playing dead, I buried her 5x's."

( I think this was from the Jay Leno book for kids on how to tell jokes)  She couldn't remember where she got it. :)

And lastly, somebody googled "clothing stretcher" and landed on our blog here. <----   I wonder what they thought? :)

"Oh There You Are Peter!"

I don't know if any of you have seen the movie "Hook"....but in it, Peter Pan grows up and gets older. One of the lost boys doesn't recognize him until he examines him closely and then says, "Oh there you are Peter!" (under all those wrinkles)

I have been raising kids for 34 plus years.  I looked quite different to my boys than I look to my girls.
This morning after our devotional, they got curious.... "What did you look like 20-30 years ago?"

And then I was subjected to this!

They were trying to smoothe out my wrinkles to see what I might have looked like to the guys. LOL
And this is what it looked like to me!

I just tell them that inside, I am the same! :)
And.... I have EARNED every wrinkle and gray hair!

April Fool's Fun

April Fool's day was pretty fun around here. :)
I asked Erika to cut my hair for Spring/Summer.  It was layered and I wanted it to return to all one length. 
When Erika got ready to trim my hair, Miss Alli was very interested in what we were doing. We told her that Erika was going to trim 1 inch.....
And Alli saw THIS:

After the first cut you should have seen her face! LOL
She said, "Mama, that is NO INCH!"    SHE IS CUTTING A LOT MORE! She resorted to showing it to me and taking the picture above; and I said, "Yea, April Fools! You can't trick me! :)
She got out a ruler and measured 12 inches!  MAMA! I can't believe it! I was joking with her:  Where'd you get that hair??  That couldn't be mine!

In the end, we broke the news to her:  APRIL FOOLS! and told her I  had asked Erika to trim my hair. 
She said that was the best April Fools Ever! :)

An Anna and Alli Funny

"Mom, not next weekend but the weekend after can you make blueberry muffins for breakfast?"
Sure.... but why not next weekend?
"Because I have kitchen duty that week.

LOL

Alli came in the house all hunched over.  I asked her, "are you ok?"  "Why are you bent over like that?  It isn't good for your back.  Can you show me how to stand straight?"  She straightened up one side but the other side was still hunched over.....

I said, "what is wrong with your shoulder?" 
She smiled and pulled out an egg that she was holding under her armpit!  She was wanting to see if she could hatch it. LOL

A February Funny

"Mom, she's going to give me 'shaken teenager syndrome'!"
Anna said this as Alli was picking her up to give her a morning hug.... LOL

Sometimes .......

Sometimes we have to just stay and be..... today was supposed to be "Bright Lights" group.  Erika, Anna and Sarah all went.  Miss Alli needed to stay with mama for some mama time.

She had planned to go, but it was quickly evident that she needed to stay home.  So I took the other girls down the street and dropped them off at the Bright Light's location and came back home with Miss Alli. 

We sat down to have our talk about what had happened and she listened quite well.  I am proud of her for that!  We really DID have a great talk. Right before we were done, she was looking intently in my eyes and I said, "Sweetie, Don't be a dull bulb! Be a Bright Light! "  And she burst out laughing!
"Mama, you are so funny!" :)

Goats and Doritos

My favorite commercial of the super bowl was the Dorito Eating Goat.  :)

I wanted to see if goats really LIKE chips and if they really CRUNCH that loud.
The answer is Yes and YES!  We didn't use Doritos, but we did use Tortilla chips. :)

No Sugar!

Miss Alli declared that she is no longer having sugar starting TOMORROW! :)

She may wind up finishing that jar of jam today! LOL

A Black Friday Funny

Well.... It was funny for Erika and me. :)

I took the girls shopping this a.m. to look for a new ornament and get a few little things.  To our surprise, at 7:30 a.m. we encountered NO CROWDS!  It was just a really fun time.

Soooo, we were getting ready to check out at Hobby Lobby, but they each had to check out separately, as they didn't want each other to see what they were buying.  Erika was still making up her mind on her ornament, which was close to the front door where I could see the car.
Anna and Sarah headed out to the car to put packages away and then were going to come back in.  We have this code you can type in to unlock the car and trunk, which they did.
 While I was still in the store watching Erika pick out an ornament, I saw they were finished and so I decided to use my key pad to pop the trunk open as a joke. 
They were both a little surprised and Anna shut the trunk.    So I popped it again.  I saw her perplexed look and she shut it again while Sarah was watching.
I popped it again and they both cleaned the leaves out of the trunk and shut it again. Then Anna got into the car to wait and Sarah came in and said,
"Mama, there is something wrong with the trunk! It keeps opening!" 
"Oh really?"
"Yes, Anna is staying out there to watch our stuff!"
So I popped it again. :)
Anna patiently got out and shut it.  I waited for her to get back in and couldn't help myself.....
We were ready to leave. 
I did it again.... :) 
I couldn't believe how patient she was.

We all got out to the car.  She said, "Mama, I don't think we can go over to the mall because of the trunk, but if you want to, I'll wait in the car and watch the trunk."  What a sweet heart. :)
Then I felt kind of guilty and Erika could barely hold her laughter.

And then, I told them... it was me the whole time. 
I owed her a salad BIG TIME! :)  What a great sport!

A November Funny Courtesty of Alli

Alli- "Mom, my toe is hurting!" (pointing to her ankle)
Mom- "Which toe?"
Alli- "The one I'm pointing at!"
Mom" Ummm, that is an ankle."
Alli- "Ok, so I don't have all my body parts down yet.... My ankle hurts. "
LOL

I don't know if we should go to soccer today.... Anna's hip is hurting, Erika's leg is hurting though we had her legs adjusted again yesterday, but today she is still in pain.  Sarah is on crutches and Alli's toe ankle is hurting.... 
Of course, Alli and Sarah insist they can go and play soccer.


On another sweet note.  Anna finished Erika's kitchen today while I ran to get dog food, because Erika couldn't do it. 
While we were in bed this a.m. Mike said, "I think we have the sweetest girls in the world."  I think he is right. :) 
Love them all so much.

A Funny and A Delight

I try to word requests in a question form instead of a command form.  99% of the time, I get compliance.  Last night.... no so.
I asked Miss Alli, "Honey, would you like to go get some firewood and bring it in?"
She said, "No, not really."  It was an honest answer. :)

She then said, "Mama, would you like to play "old fashioned"? 
She is fascinated with all old, including our oil lamps, antiques and 1800's history.
So I said, "Sure!"
I had to pretend to be a store keeper.  She needed to purchase 3 pieces of paper.  I charged her 6 cents.
Then, I asked her, "And what is your profession?"
She replied, "Oh Miss, I sell firewood!"
Oh, "May I purchase 6 sticks of firewood?"
She said, "Yes Maam! and Happily ran out to bring in the firewood!" LOL

This a.m.  I heard somebody putting away dishes from the dishwasher and putting what wouldn't fit in last night INTO the dishwasher.  I thought, WOW! Miss Alli is up early.  It is her week for dishes.
Instead, this is who I found doing all that work with a happy heart. :)

A Funny For Tonight...

 Tonight during Family Worship we were finishing up with prayer time. 

Alli prayed, "Dear God, I pray that you would make perfect decisions!" "Oh, you already do!" :)

Sarah needed prayer for the "S" word. :)  In her life, the S word is Surgery. :)

An Erika Funny

Today during science we were reading aloud about Neurons.
Erika read aloud : "Do you think a single moron can carry information in both directions?" No.....
We all started laughing.... "It is  NEURON not MORON". LOL

An Anna Funny

Anna just asked me what pasteurized means. She noticed the orange juice was pasteurized.
I explained it to her and she said, "Oh, I thought it just meant that milk came from cows that live in pastures instead of barns; kind of like free range chicken."  LOL
