His Mercy

"His Mercies Are New Every Morning"

A Thought

In this life we can not always do great things. But we can do small things with great love.." :) Mother Teresa

Prayer Quote

“I pray because I can't help myself. I pray because I'm helpless. I pray because the need flows out of me all the time- waking and sleeping. It doesn't change God- it changes me.”
― C. S. Lewis

Faith

I believe in the sun even when it's not shining. I believe in love even when I don't feel it. And I believe in God even when He is silent. (quote found on the wall of a concentration camp)

Our Beloved Mr. Kitty Winkle is Gone

Yes.... It is true.

He was always looking in, longing to play with the girls, and the first thing they would do in the morning, and with all their spare time, was to play with him.
He also visited the auto shoppe regularly, spending time with Mike in the office and while he was working on cars.

Last night, Mike went somewhere, and apparently, when he was getting in the van, Mr. Kitty Winkle got in too; which was a bad habit of his. He just wanted to go somewhere! We always caught him and told him no-no, but he didn't understand.
This time, he stowed away, and when Mike opened the van door, he jumped out and ran off.
It is only about 2 miles from the house, where he ran off and of course, Mike feels awful about it.
We are hoping he makes it back home to the girlies and we have an "Incredible Journey" ending. That would really be great.
Anna is holding out hope, Erika has been sobbing and Sarah was crying. I'm figuring, he will wander until he finds a place to be comfortable and that will be it.

So, our life with Mr. Kitty Winkle was great fun and adventure. Maybe he will be thankful that he never has to wear a dress again. :) I already miss him. :(This is one of my favorite pictures of him. He was about 6 months old and already living outside on his own. He loved coming in for a bottle now and then. I couldn't believe a cat would lay on his back and hold his paws up like a baby to drink a bottle. :)

Anna's Self Photography

I found these on my camera this A.M.
When I was gone at the Dr. Anna gave herself her own photo shoot.
I think she did a great job! :)
Mr. Kitty Winkle has turned into a real Man Cat. :)

Mr. Kittie Winkle The Hunter!

He caught his first Mouse! Yea!
The picture isn't very good, because it is dark outside and the flash was too bright.
His mouse in in the right bottom of the picture, waiting to be played with a little longer before his untimely demise.
Soooo glad, he will not be entering my house!

After School Fun

Katie and Lillian spent time swinging on the porch swing.

Erika spent her precious time washing her hair. :)

Anna enjoyed spending time with Miss Kittie Winkle:

We had a little friend come and visit this afternoon. Sarah loves to play with Joy.

The goats love visiting with Joy too. :)

Cat Fishing

Here is the fishing pole with a stuffed mouse tied to the end.

Miss Kitty Winkle went for the first bite!

Can You Believe This?

I have never seen a kid better with animals, or a cat more willing to go back to babyhood than these two. :)

Kid Day

Yesterday we celebrated Kid Day. We decided there are so many dates to keep up with that July 15th every year is a celebration day of family. Unfortunately, this year we did not get to go swimming or to the lake. Anna head was attracted to the bunk bed on Wednesday night, so she can't swim for about 10 days. She has a neat little cut just above her right eyebrow. :)
Here she is with Miss Kittie Winkle.

Instead of swimming, the kids picked "The Parent Trap" to watch. We had popcorn and then a slumber party in our room.

5:30 a.m. for walking time came early. But.... Erika did my hair, so I was good to go when I woke up. She is learning how to do different kinds of braids. This is a herringbone braid.

Today Marcus, Ivy and Charlie go home from the hospital and the Minichs start the adventure of family life with a 2 year old and a new born. I know they will do just great. Big brother and small brother are thriving. Ivy says Charlie is eating well. :)

Today Sarah and I make the trek to the hospital for hand clinic. It is just a follow up visit, so we plan to make the best of our time together. :)
Sarah is reading her 19th Mandy book in 2 months. She loves Mandy books. :)

Anna is reading Gilbert Moore books. She just finished "The fiery Ring". She loves historical period books.

Erika is reading a dog book called Dragon, and just can't keep her eyes away from Hank the Cow Dog. :)

They have been busy putting on plays and skits with their animals, and Miss Kittie Winkle is a continuous source of humorous entertainment around here. She is a great cicatta hunter and we expect she'll be a fabulous mouser too. :)
When we walk out of the house she pounces on our feet. It really is quite funny. Mike said she is the happiest kitten he has ever seen. He has even taken to holding her here and there. I knew he was a softy towards her. :)

I have taken back to writing, and will be setting up a new web page specifically for my BCLC stuff. :)

We are having a great summer so far, and it is going to get really fun when our son, daughter in law and our 2 grand daughters Katie and Lillian come to stay with us for a few weeks, while they look for a new place to live. We need to get our other house sold, and it will be easier to sell and get ready if they come and visit us for a while.

The more the merrier. :) Extra kids for skits and plays. :)

Isn't She the Cutest!!!!

Anna took this picture of her sitting in her purse. :)
Miss Kittie-Winkle is 6 weeks old today. :) We think. Let's just say we found her 5 weeks ago and guessed her to be about a week old. Her eyes were just open.
She is a very sweet purring kitty who loves to play with her pet mouse and pounce on your feet when you walk onto the porch. :)

Here she is sleeping on the porch by her mouse. :)

Miss Kittie-Winkle Wants INSIDE!

Miss Kittie is doing fantastic. She is learning what a litter box is, has her favorite blankie and food, and she is on the covered porch. She loves it out there, but when she hears our voices or wants attention, she starts to climb the screen door. LOL

She got about 2 feet up the screen today, holding on for dear life. :)

Tea Party and Miss Kittie-Winkle and Narnia

We have had a fun weekend. The girls had a tea party on Friday afternoon. They got all dressed up and even tried on some lip sick. :)

They had a special guest! Isn't Miss Kittie-Winkle beautiful all dressed up in her tea party dress? :)

We watched "The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe". Sarah was watching intently and kept asking so many questions. Daddy stopped the movie and asked her to please write her questions down, so we could answer them when the movie was over. :) She did! A WHOLE PAGE FULL! LOL

One thing that cracked me up, was after seeing the professor, she disappeared for a few minutes and came back with this home made pipe! :)

Miss Kittie-Winkle Update 4

Daddy says when Miss Kittie Winkle is weaned, she will be living outside.

Hmmmm.
I think she has other plans. LOL

The Exploration of Miss Kittie Winkle

I think Anna is going to be a great mama someday! :)

Miss Kittie-Winkle update 2

She is doing great. Exploring all over now. We guess she is around 3 weeks old. She isn't on solids yet though we are trying to present them to her. She just poo-pood them in perfect kitty form. She loves her bottle and it is a comedy session watching her drink. She will get into this weird fit of teething, sucking and clawing. Look out for the poor person holding the bottle she attacks!

Here are some photos of this a.m. Mike needs to clean his shoes! LOL

Miss Kittie-Winkle and Her Mama

That is, her chosen mama for the moment. :)
Sarah is going to make a great mama. She is already learning to multi-task. :)

Miss Kittie Winkle now has her own blog label. :)

This And That :)

Tomorrow is the The Big Bookfair in Arlington Texas. Yea! We love going and seeing old friends, finding new curriculum, fun books and spending time just browsing. There is always something fun to see and a friend to talk to.

This A.M., Erika took her purse out of her desk and it sounded like a waterfall of marbles falling all over the floor. It was actually pennies. She is a collector of money. (good girl) I told her, "Take a deep breath!" She then said, "Whoever stuffed my purse into my desk, please don't do that again!" To which, Anna said, "yes maam.!"LOL

This is what happens when I go to the Grocery Store and Daddy is watching the girls.

Miss Kittie Winkle is doing Fantastic. She is starting to walk on all fours without that funny army crawl look. She is definitely cutting teeth and growing claws. She has graduated from the eye dropper to a Newborn Nuk nipple. Boy, when she gets that thing going, she is so funny. Her tummy gets fat she lays back and purrs. LOL She drank 1 and a half oz's. this a.m.!

Sarah says kitty peed on her and that makes her an official mother!

We found some great clothing deals at Kohl's for the girls. I really need to look and see what they have for me too. :) I can't believe how big they are getting. I can't believe how big I am getting! I gotta stop that!

Anna was combing the sale pages this a.m. She is looking for a locket.
They are all growing up! :)

Ahhh Saturday!

There is something about Saturday morning that is always just nice! Every Friday night the girlies have a slumber party in our bedroom. We get our bed, they get cots and the lounge chair. It is cozy.

When Saturday Morning rolls around there is no pressure to get up early... but I typically look at Mike and say, "coffee, STRONG coffee!" :)

This morning, we woke up to baby kitty meowing loudly wanting her morning meal. It is amazing how a kitty that weighs less than a pound could wake 5 people up, but she did.
Such Feline Power!

Sarah really enjoyed holding her.

Don't they look happy together? :)

After kitty went back to sleep, we had our coffee and played more Backgammon.
Sarah is a food artist. She made this for her breakfast. Yum....
If I ate veges for breakfast, I might be able to be thin too!

Miss Kittie-Winkle

She is doing great. Once we figured out an eyedropper works better than a bottle, she is drinking away. Thanks Jeane. :)

Her official name is Julia, though I rather prefer Miss Kittie-Winkle. But, we voted and Julia it is. :)

She is much more rambuncious than she was 2 days ago. The girls couldn't be happier about that. :)

An Amazing Find!

The girls were cleaning leaves out of the boat. They pulled one of the seats up and thought they saw a baby wild animal. She is wild alright, but she is a baby kitten.
Maybe about 2 weeks old. We don't know how she got in the boat under the seat and immediately began to search for other kittens but there were none.

So, she is being mothered to death by 3 very eager kitty mommies. They are going to vote on a name once we are sure she is going to live. She sure doesn't like the kitten bottle, or the nuk bottle. But she is eating a little bit. Maybe a teaspoon at a time.

I remember raising our dobeman puppies, and I'm glad there is only 1 to feed this time.:)

All the girls immediatly were sad that she was orphaned and didn't have a mommy. But they are confident they can make her happy and secure. :)
