Holiday Spice Cookies

****This Recipe is Not Gluten Free YET...*****


             Holiday Spice Cookies
A kind of sugar cookie with some punch!

1 cup of butter softened (2 sticks)
1 cup of sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup on honey
2 TLB of white vinegar
2 eggs
1TLB vanilla extract

2 3/4 - 3  c flour
1/4 tsp finely ground pepper
1/4 tsp ground cloves
2 TSP ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tsp baking soda
1/s tsp salt

Combine all ingredients except flour and spices
mix until creamy

add flour and spices.
mix together thoroughly

Divide dough in 1/2 and shape like log wrapping in waxed paper.
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours

On well floured surface, take dough out a little at a time and roll flat to 1/4 inch or less
dip cookie cutters in flour and cut out cookie shapes

Place on cookie sheet. 
If making ornaments for tree, place hooks in tops of cookies and make sure the dough is pressed in around the hook
OR make a circular hole in top to put ribbon through. Make sure it is big enough that cookie doesn't close over hole while baking.

Bake in oven at 350º for about 10 minutes.  Cookies will be starting to brown. 

Cool on wire racks.


For ICING:

1 package of powdered sugar, powdered vanilla or vanilla extract
milk or water, food coloring

divide sugar into bowls, add small amount of vanilla, add a very small amount of milk or water
and stir. Do not get it too thin. If it is too thin, just add more sugar.  Stir until there are no lumps
add food coloring of your choice.

Decorate cookies  and if you like, add sprinkles

We like to use chocolate sprinkles, green, red, and multi colored ......

Place cookies back on racks to dry..... they should be dry within a few hours.

Then, you can hang them on the tree, or just eat them. :)
